To use the mental faculties to consider and ponder on the cosmological and the psychological phenomena and the history of the former nations to understand, perceive and comprehend the Divine cosmological laws.

To perform and implement this pillar is essential for achieving the major religious purposes.

This pillar is necessary to achieve the religious purposes and goals. The Human must do all what is necessary to fulfill this pillar by following the Qur'ânic ways, commandments and methods including walk on Earth seeking data, knowledge and information, research, experimentation, induction, and deduction. He should do everything possible to gather the necessary data and information and use all the mental faculties and abilities to consider them. This means, in the recent era language, to work to know, perceive and comprehend the natural and human sciences in the context of their pointing towards the Divine laws and the cosmological laws which, in their turn points toward the Divine attributes. By comprehending and mastering these laws the human acquires the possible knowledge of God, His attributes, and His deeds. Working according to this pillar leads to the development, improvement, enhancing and strengthening of the human mental faculties, aptitudes, talents, abilities, and capacities.

This pillar is very important to build a strong nation that can meet the requirements of every era and can overcome any possible challenges.

According to this pillar it is required to use the mental faculties and human senses to the utmost to ponder on the signs of God including Qur'ânic verses and the physical phenomena. The mental activities includes processes like: thinking, deliberation, meditation, contemplation, conceptualization, cognition, comprehension, sentience, consciousness, understanding, ideation, discourse and imagination Working according to this pillar is necessary to achieve the purposes of the human lives in the Earth.

Allâh enjoins Muslims to travel through the land and to observe how the end of those before them was and to observe how He began and originated the creation. This implies that the beginning of creation of mankind was here on this earth and that it is within the human reach to know how this beginning occurred.

The term mind can be generalized to include all mental faculties, thought, volition, feeling and memory. Hence, the brain is not equivalent to this mind. This term refers to the core of the human intrinsic self; the Qalb (القلب). The central nervous system is the hardware of the real heart; the Qalb. However, the Qalb comprises also the emotional faculties and some other neutral faculties or common faculties. The entity comprising all the mental faculties is the Lobb. The real heart includes the mind. The mental faculties can be considered the various functions of the mind. It is to be noted that the human self can do all the mental functions or the various roles of the Qalb without the central nervous system. However, it is usually obliged to that in this life.

According to this pillar the human being is enjoined to use to the utmost his mental faculties. He must urge himself to ponder and think. Thought generally refers to any mental or intellectual activity of the intrinsic human entity known as the Qalb. It can refer either to the act of thinking or the results of this thinking. It underlies almost all human actions and interactions.

Thinking allows human beings to make sense of or model the things in the world, and to represent and interpret them in ways that are significant, or which accord with their needs, attachments, objectives, goals, commitments, plans, ends, desires, etc. Thinking is always performed with previously formed outlines. Thinking allows people to form concepts and mental images that correspond to the real physical objects or even supernatural objects. Thinking involves the symbolic or semantic mediation of ideas or familiar concepts or data. When people seek to form new concepts, they find themselves engaged in problem solving, reasoning and making decisions.

The human being is enjoined to improve and enhance his ability to think. This can be performed by enlarging the scope of thinking to include relationships between the objects of thinking and the sublime Divine attributes.
